Memorable moments of 2012 - Lots of pictures

Christmas and Boxing day

My little old Roxie dog

Like most other bloggers, I'm doing a little post to sum up my 2012. Each picture has really made up my year and what I've really enjoyed: My holidays, special trips and vists, holidays and just random moments!
I think I've achieved quite a bit this year, I've started my blog, realised what I want to do in the future, just need to get that moving and got a little more comfortable and confident with myself. Overall it's been a really good year and hopefully next year will all go right and be even better!

OOTD - Boxing day tea

Yo Santa!

Like last year we decided we'd have everyone round for Boxing day tea and thought I'd make a little effort, everything but the tights are all what I got for Christmas gave into the rip off litas. I don't wear heals ever; I actually think this is the first but I love them so much and cant justify the 100+ for something I wont wear.
This is also the first time I've worn a crop top, I've never felt comfortable with my body and still not 100% but I actually feel really comfortable in this, maybe because I'm not leaving the house?

Hope everyone is having a good Christmas

Tuesday, 25 December 2012

Oh hey there Roxie dogs bottom
Sadly it's nearly the end of Christmas day, I'm a little gutted actually! But it's been a really good day so can't complain. I being the un-organised child I am forgot to take a picture of my outfit, all Christmas presents, before going off too my dads, baring in mind we all got up at half 4 this morning. (I'm really feeling it now) So here's too taking rushed poor quality pictures before any guests come up the stairs.

I fell in love with these trousers as soon as I saw them and they have like velvet felt black dog tooth pattern so they feel lurvely! I was going to wear it with a black crop top, but then I thought of the food baby and that my friends wouldn't be a good look.

I hope everyone's had and is having a really good Christmas  and it carries onto tomorrow, boxing day is like another Christmas minus the presents in our house so I get to hang onto Christmas for just one more day! sigh. I hope you all got the presents you wanted :}

So I'm pretty sure I mentioned in an earlier post that I was going to start doing my hauls in video format and was thinking about doing a 'Christmas presents' type one but now I'm a little unsure whether this is going to go down well with people, does it make it look like I'm bragging about what I got? Tell me what you think?

Childhood Christmases.

So the last month I've been teaching my 4 year old brother the wonder of Christmas of songs and we have these two down to a T! Now it's all he's been singing along with a 'Santa got stuck up the chimney' and a few others he learnt at school, it's pretty cute. I admit 'Santa Clause is coming to town' is probably my all time favourite Christmas song still but then again I still excited for Christmas as if I was 7 years old. Santa Clause is obviously real right?

So the last few days after finishing college have been pretty manic, I've wrapped nearly every present my mum needed wrapping, we've been doing the last few Christmas pieces and today we're getting the house ready for tomorrow and Christmas. Only 2 days left! I've been thinking of posts to do over Christmas I have a few ideas, does that make me a dedicated blogger or does it make me sound boring, hmm?

OOTD - I'll tell you how I become the prince of a town call Bel-Air

I managed to get up early enough Tuesday morning to have a spare 5 minutes to take pictures before I left. I think this tshirt now vest has shown up briefly on my Cyprus outfits post, I'm quite surprised I haven't worn it actually. I'm a massive fan of Fresh Prince of Bel Air, so when I saw it in the men section of river island, I made it mine; even if it's a large mens and comes mid thigh. I did cut of the arms, which is probably why I haven't worn it with it being cold and all.

Has anyone else noticed how it's a little warmer then it usually is around this time? or is it just me?

How I style...

The Leather Skirt!

1. 2. 3. 4.
Warning it's pretty wordy!
I've never done one of these posts before, but have been thinking about it so here goes and I've finally got a bit of spare time. I admit it's rushed I was trying to get it done before the camera died and I've simply misplaced the charger, sigh.

I know leather (or fake if your cheap or poor like me) has become increasingly popular over the last few months especially the skirt; so I thought I'd show everyone how I would style mine for inspiration I suppose to those who don't know whether to get one. The good thing about the leather skirt is it's a simple piece often black and plain, so just as easy to pair with certain things as any other skirt, but I think that it's a "leather skirt" makes it all the more daunting to wear.

1 is something I would probably wear out to a meal or party, I paired the skirt with my Motelrocks purple Gothic body suit. Although it's cold out it's easy to throw something over the top that doesn't take away from the dressiness (is that a word?) of the outfit. I'm actually going to a party this weekend and it's a toss up between this skirt and my disco pants with this bodysuit, who knows?

2. This time round I paired it with my plain denim shirt, brought from H&M earlier this year I think, I actually saw a similar outfit from a youtube video and can't believe I didn't think of it before. I think it's the ideal outfit, with a pair of tights and knitted cardigan over the top, for winter to keep you all warm and toasty, keeping it simple as the leather skirt really talks for itself.

3. This is actually a photo from a previous post here, I wanted to show how you could pair it with an oversized top to keep it slouchy and to show how versatile it really is.

4. This is definitely for the colder days, a knitted Christmas jumper with a plain shirt underneath, a pair of tights and your winter coat and your good to go. A lot of my jumpers are longer at the back, which last year really bugged me but this year I think their perfect and I really like the tucked in at the front and long at the back effect. It's like a mullet "Business in the front and a party in the back" well that sends me back to the Hannah Montana days!

Hmm hope it helps in anyway, send me a comment if you think I should make this a more regular thing or?

OOTD - T-shirt and collar combo.

I've been thinking about trying the T-shirt and collar combo for a while and felt this top was just the type try it with, probably because it's oversized! I teamed it with my H&M body-con and tights (obviously, it's bloody cold out there!) layering it up with a hoodie and denim shirt; I have literally 5 layers on here!

An easy outfit, though I admit not the most flattering but I'm not out to impress and at least I'm comfy I say! The pictures were taken at two different times of the day, I forgot to do the layers first time round and ended up doing it when it's dark. How early does it get dark now though? I feel like it should be 8pm when it's only 5:15 I hate it!

OOTD - A lazy day.

Today I don't feel like do anything, I just wanna lay in my bed ...

You know those days when you just cant be bothered and go for comfort over style, yeah I'm having one of those days! So I've got nothing special on but I hadn't posted in a week and didn't not want to post again. The last week I've either been at college, where I get up too late to take pictures in the morning and it's dark when I get home or I'm in my pyjamas on my day off doing college work.

Hopefully I wont be a slacker this week and get around to posting more, maybe I'll do pictures like this on, who knows I just go with the flow. I need to carry round a little notebook or my phone because I get post ideas in the middle of my lessons and forget by the time I get home.

OOTD - “Nothing burns like the cold.”

Jumper - primark oldie
velvet shorts- Ebay
belt - Primark
I admit I've been struggling with the sudden cold, I know no other person who feels the cold as easily as I do and dressing to keep warm, while looking half decent! When it gets cold I usual grab a numerous amount of clothes, bung them on and hope for the best, but I'm determined this year.

I chose my velvet shorts which I have worn previously and posted but you can appreciate the velvet here and my Primark belt which I just realised the little square/triangle things move round to the middle. I paired it with the usual shirt and jumper combo, I brought this jumper last year and may have worn it only once because it was too tight round the boob area, is itchy and is cropped. I was actually going to throw it out, when I recently sorted out my clothes, but something made me keep it and I'm quite glad I did, it is your typical ugly jumper but I'm much more confident with my outfits then I was this time last year.

So I've been searching for the perfect winter coat and have came across the tweed car coat, which is blazer styled, but I'm a bit unsure whether it'll be warm enough for the winter months. So if anyone has one maybe you could let me know, would be great! :)

Ps. I'm thinking about getting a full fringe, what do you guys think?

OOTD - leather, studs and unicorns.

Tshirt -Me&Yu
Pleather skirt - ebay
I've had my eye on a 'pleather' skirt for a while now, but was unsure weather to go for it, so when I saw this one on Ebay here for only £12 I decided I had to get it. I was definitely unsure about buying a faux leather skirt offline because you never know if it's going to look cheap or tacky, I'm glad I got it though it's good quality and isn't too shiny at all!

I paired it with my newish top (is it still classed as  new after I've shown it on here? hmm) to keep it casual and simple because it's definitely a statement piece which can be worn for any occasion. I'm thinking of doing a 'How to style' post with this skirt? What do you think?

If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen that I've been thinking about wrapping my hair and I finally got round to doing it, it was a lot easier and more time consuming then I expected, but I think I'll definitely be doing it again.

Here have a bit of Mcfly's new song Love is easy. They are my guilty pleasure, although I feel no guilt in loving them! Did anyone see them on Surprise Surprise last night, how perfect were they?!

“Fashion changes, but style endures.” ― Coco Chanel

Have you seen Kelly Osbourne recently?! (well obviously you see the pictures first) How stunning has she got?

I've been thinking about doing a post on Kelly for a while and just never seemed to get round to it, so here it is! She's really got herself known in the fashion business, especially in the last few years, starting a clothing line, starring in the show 'fashion police' (which I can't seem to be able to watch at all) and being the face of Madonna's clothing line.I particularly love how she wears classic pieces adds her own twists with her purple hair, accessories and mixing with all different eras.

"You know I was having fun [when I was heavier] but no one takes notice of a fat girl in fashion. That’s the truth! It’s sad. That’s why I love women like Beth Ditto who are doing their own clothes. That’s why when my line comes out I’ll never make anything that won’t be translated to plus-size as well. Because everyone deserves to wear fashion."

OTTD - I have a confession...

I'm a geek and proud!

Geek top - Missguided
If you read my blog before then you'll now I've had a bit of a palava getting this top. I first saw the Topshop version on another blog but couldn't find it in Topshop, by chance I saw this one on Missguided and missed out by literally a couple of hours and then it came back into to Topshop in green, but I couldn't bring myself to pay £18 for a t-shirt when I'd seen this one for £11 and when  it finally came back into stock I snapped one up as soon as possible.

I tend to end up buying things in black when it gets to autumn winter just because it's so easy to dress and I dress for comfort and with less thought when I want to be hibernating! It's a size Medium to large and a lot smaller then I thought it was going to be, but I'm satisfied none the less.

Oh and how cold was it today?! Gives me an excuse to wearing my Uggs, getting in my pyjamas early and sleeping with a hot water bottle aaaand it's literally just under 2 months till Christmas!

OOTD - "Do you think people will laugh at you because you're wearing your knickers?"

Tshirt - Me&Yu
Velvet shorts - Ebay (little DIY)
These pictures do no justice to both the shorts and tshirt, maybe I should get up a little earlier in the mornings to take a few pictures for decent lighting and hair? But I do like lying in bed, woman problems and all.

This T-shirt was featured on my blog previously in a I wish post here it came only yesterday and I really love oversized t-shirts at the moment as it's puts that extra comfort to a casual outfit. It has 4 unicorns on it and where it's tucked in it says 'The four unicorns of the apocalypse' and I was torn between this and another to buy so when in doubt and flip a coin and this is what I ended up. It did turn out to be a little on the big side but who can turn down an oversized t-shirt?

I've been looking for a pair of velvet shorts for a while now but the only ones I could find where 'knicker shorts' however I refuse to have my bum cheeks out! So when I found these and at pretty reasonable price I had to snap them up, I even added a little black lace around the bottom although you can't really see it. How comfortable are they though?! On reflection I would probably wear a lighter pair of tights or a different colour to show them off a bit, it really does look like I have nothing on or as my little brother says "my knickers." Ahh well I adore them!

OOTD - Khaki, studs and red lipstick.

Khaki shirt - Asda

Like everyone else I needed at least one item of Khaki in my wardrobe for AW and how can you go wrong with a shirt and studded collar? Asda is completely underrated and I always feel a bit silly saying "oh it's from asda" but they have some really good stuff bang on trend.

What really drew me to this shirt was the thicker khaki panel at the top half of the shirt, although you can't really tell where I've tucked in, so i don't have to go through the fuss of trying to find an appropriate vest to go underneath. (Is it just me that can never find a plain vest top when I need one?)

I don't know if anyone saw on twitter but I did mention about my little DIY project which was just literally sewing lace around the edge of my velvet shorts! I finally got around to doing it today and can now finally where them!:} Post should be up soon.

Amethyst - The stone of spirituality

(Hello wonky fingers)

I kept my outfit for college pretty simple today as we were going to the RSPCA (heart breaking) and the animal testing labs in Portsmouth Uni, which was interesting but I'm not for.

This post is really for my gorgeous necklace, it's an amethyst crystal, which some people believe has 'healing' and 'enhancing' purposes, you could call it this particular one is said to cure insomnia; I find things like this fascinating.

I got it  from Harts+Crosses which is a lovely online store mainly selling jewellery but also accessories and a few vintage items, which I think is a pretty new thing. I featured this necklace on my wishlist here after it had gone in the sale for just £3 and mentioned it on twitter; where it turned out to be the last one left and @hartscrosses actually reserved it for me for when I was ready to buy it! I thought this was lovely and I think she really went out of her way for me, which I'm so grateful for. NOT only did she do that but she even included the two rose rings as a little freebie. You should definitely check the website out!

On a side note, I'm pretty sure I've chosen what to course I'd like to do for college when I go back for another two years,  a bore I know but I found the course I'm on just isn't for me even though I adore animals! It's a fashion and clothing BTEC Level 3 Diploma (I'm no good at exams) at Southdowns College, if you want to check it out just click here! :)

"Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.” - Coco Chanel

I've had a bit of a rubbish weekend, I was ill Saturday and Sunday was my day of recovery and an afternoon of sitting in my pyjamas with my quilt watching Dog the Bounty Hunter! So I thought today I'd wear something nice to make myself feel better, like you need to.

The dress is nothing you haven't already seen and like so many others I'd thought I'd throw a knitted jumper over, it's a last year buy that I never really wore; it's a gorgeous colour but it's short body and that bugged me.

I also haven't got to show you my oversize denim jacket, at first I thought I'd managed to find something too oversized if that's possible? But actually I adore it even though it's completely unflattering and makes me look about 20stone!

OOTD - The hungry lion roars and the wolf behowls the moon

Top: Oldie
Skirt: Primark

Could we take the time to appreciate this top I have recently re-discovered, I completely forgot I had it and it's just been hidden at the back of my draws for sometime now! I adore wolves and have about 3 dream catchers (another love of mine) with a wolf incorporated into  it, they're just so majestic and I'm completely in awe of them. It's quite a pale design and not all that noticeable, so I was pretty ecstatic when it showed up on camera much better then I thought it would.

My skirt however, is a different story, I don't think it's captured how it looks on at all; here I think it's quite frumpy and un-flattering, whereas in person it's flowey and adds that feminine factor. Maybe it's because I can't seem to stand without looking awkward, probably.

You can definitely tell I have had my hair done here, unlike the previous photos and it shows the ombre effect much clearer; I adore it my hair has life again, it looks thicker and has more oomph. Apparently though you are supposed to dye your hair darker for autumn and winter? ah well. I also wore my lipstick today, although I took these pictures later on in the day and it's the sad remains. The lipstick, however, is 08 Tuscan  Red from the MeMeMe collection in Superdrug, it's a gorgeous colour and seems to transform my face, in a good way!

OOTD - Back to college!

Today I went back to do the last year of college in a course I'm not enjoying! However we were on a trip in the New Forest national park, which I suppose isn't a bad first day back at all now is it? The weather, as most of you know, is so unpredictable at the moment so I was a bit clueless as what to wear. So of course I chose my well loved peace leggings and purple shirt/tshirt (The buttons don't go all the way down?) and my leather jacket, rather be too warm then not warm enough I say. I don't know what happened to the first picture but it's the only one that is closest to the true colour of the shirt that for some reason didn't photograph well!

I did say I was going to do a whole post dedicated to this bracelet/arm cuff but I couldn't wait to show everyone, I think it's pretty gorgeous!

OTTD - One of the great treasures of England

Skater dress -H&M
Brogues - Matalan

Today was my last day of freedom before college starts tomorrow so I felt I had to actually get dressed and actually go out! So my nan and I went to Arundel Castle, I do wish I had a picture outside of the castle it was breathtaking really. I chose to wear this dress, which is patterned with daisies/flowers, I absolutely adore it although I wish I did wear my knitted jumper, rather then my leather jacket, it was a lot colder then it looked!

On a side note, I did buy a cute hand crafted bangle/cuff which I hope to wear as an upper arm cuff and will probably feature on here soon. If you follow my twitter @CourtneeeyJ then you'll know I've been searching for a cheapish oversized denim jacket everywhere, to customise, and it finally arrived today! Although the arms are far to wide and long, so if anyone knows how to sort that out at all?

OOTD - Daisy daisy give me your answer do!

Check out my nose stud ;)

I finally got around to taking photographs of another outfit, I've either not been going out or not having the time to take one. As you can probably tell I'm taking pictures in different locations to see which is best and we are now currently in my front room.  Hey pictures of my sister. So if you have any advice or what you think is the best just let me know!:)
Today I went to Milestones in Basingstoke, which is a museum all about the Victorian street/shops and life, history is my thing! As everyone who lives in the South East and I'm pretty sure the rest of the country we're having a bit of a late mini summer and thought I'd finally get my legs out in our homeland.

I chose to wear a floral, I'm pretty sure there daisies swaying in the wind or something, jumpsuit I got from Primark, not to sure of the price, and my white converse and little ankle socks which you can't really see. It's a really light fabric and so so comfy, it has featured on my blog before here while  I was in Cyprus but this really is a much closer look.

While I was taking pictures, I had a little gatecrasher, so here is my brother and I looking smooth.
