Going on Holiday!

Image found on Tumblr

So the title of this post is pretty self explanatory, I'm off on holiday today! Only for a week but I wanted to kind of inform you of the reasoning behind my absence from the internet, but this gives me an opportunity to create lots of travel and holiday posts, so keep your eyes out for them when I get back!

Hope you all have a fantastic week!

OOTD - Overheating

Dress - H&M
Kimono - Primark
Shoes - Ebay
Bag - New Look on Asos
Photos taken by Emma

It's been a pretty busy week for me, I've had plans multiple times this week that have meant I needed to venture into the outside world. shock horror. This times I went to Chichester with my college friends, Emma and Charlie, who you've probably seen me mention a thousand times; in which we did a little window shopping, lunch and a walk around Bishop Palace Gardens. If you live near Chichester you should definitely check out the gardens, its such a beautiful place perfect for a picnic or outfit posts.

I kept my outfit quite basic and minimal purely because of how hot it is, I just couldn't bare to wear a lot of clothing. So I just paired this basic black dress with a cute kimono, my new favourite summer sandals and backpack, its the little details that make this outfit!

Emma is currently building a portfolio, so she wanted to take some street photos once again I had to have my photo done in a public place, but I surprisingly felt quite comfortable doing it maybe its because I don't know anyone there!

Also Emma has done a video on her YouTube which I feature in so check that out here

The Harry Potter Tag

I know what you're all thinking, really Courtney really, but how could I resist a Harry Potter tag and realising my inner (not so secret) Potter geek?! Lets be real we all love Harry Potter?!

1. What is your favorite book?
First off asking someone what there favourite book/film is like asking someone to choose between there mum or dad, you're just not meant to have favourites. But if I had to it would be either Prisoner of Azkaban I would read that one over and over but truely it would be the Deathly Hallows its when everything comes together!
2. What is your favourite film?
I just can't choose one of anything, is that against the tag rules? I dunno. But it would either be the Chamber of Secrets and oh god I just can't choose between them I love them all!
3. What is your least favourite book?
It would probably be, I'm sorry to say, The Philosophers Stone even though its the beginning of everything its just a little slow getting into it, the others are so exciting from the offset that it pales a little in comparison. But I still love it!
4. What is your least favourite film?
I don't have one. I can't choose.
5. Parts of the books/ films that make you cry.
Oh god after the death of Sirius I literally just cry my way through the books and films, they just get to me OKAY!! The death of Sirius, the death of Dumbledore, The death of Hedwig and Dobby, The death of Severus and his last memory, greatest love story ever!
6. If you could hook up with any character, who would it be?
Draco Malfoy obviously, I have no shame. Although I did used to have a massive crush on Tom Riddle in The Chamber of Secrets but people just laughed at me when I told them, was he bad? I don't think so!

Can we just take a minute and appreciate Tom Felton?!

7. Who is your favourite character?
Luna Lovegood, Hagrid, Dumbledore, Snape, Neville, Bellatrix, Draco, Fred & George I just can't decided!
8. Who is your least favourite character?
Percy, he came crawling back in the end but I did not except him!  Oh and Umbridge, I did not care for that women!
9. What is your least favourite line?
Oh my least favourite line, I never gave it much thought before. I'm sure there are a few others but the first one that comes to mind is in the last book when they show Snapes memory of the end of his friendship with Lily. There is just something about that scene that makes me feel so sorry for Snape!

Severus Snape: "I never meant to call you Mudblood, it just —"
Lily: "Slipped out? It's too late. I've made excuses for you for years. None of my friends can understand why I even talk to you. You and your precious little Death Eater friends ... You've chosen your way, I've chosen mine."

10. What would your Patronus be?
Maybe and Owl or a Wolf!
11. If you could have the Resurrection Stone, Invisibility Cloak or Elder Wand, which would it be?
First thought would be the Elder Wand but that comes with to much grief, so it would have to be the invisibility cloak. Could you imagine the amount of fun you could have with that!?

12. Which house would you be in?
I could never decided between Gryffindor or Slytherin but I did a Pottermore and I think I was Ravenclaw so I'll go with that!
13. If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?
Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) she's one of my favourite actresses and I'd love to meet her or Michael Gambon (Dumbledore) or all of them can I just say all of them?!
14. If you were on the Quidditch team, which position would you play?
I think I'd either be a seeker because I'm small so I'd be pretty fast on a broomstick, which I like to think I'd be really good at, or the Beater because I think there pretty important and it'd be quite fun no?

15. Were you happy with the ending?
I was happy with the ending but it really annoyed me that in the film Harry never fixed his own wand with the Elder wand like he does in the book! Its something I noticed when I first watched it and stuck with me ever since, I think it's pretty significant!
16. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?
Harry Potter was my childhood and I know loads of people say that and other dont understand how important it is to me and how much I love it. But It really was, it was my favourite thing to read, its my favourite thing to watch and it would easily cheer me up and I could just get lost in Hogwarts and the characters and the story. There are even a few life lesson and qoutes that can be taken into real life and I couldn't imagine not storming through the whole lot in a week and weekenders of Harry Potter!

You're welcome

Day in the life of 1#

Blogs - Emma - Charlie
Twitter - Emma - Charlie

This is a new type of post to my blog in which I take photos throughout my day of what I'm up to and I thought Thursday was the prime opportunity to start; because how interesting is my usual day in front of the tv?! I plan to carry my camera around with me a lot more often as I've missed plenty of photo opportunities and have been gutted I didn't have my camera. I think doing more posts like this will improve my photo taking as you can probably tell they need help. I'd love any advice you can give me! They'll be an OOTD from this day soon!

Hope you enjoyed it

OOTD - Titchfield Abbey

Fedora - Asos
Top - Topshop (old)
Skirt - Topshop
Vans - Schuh (old)

All photos taken by Amy Wilton

Monday I met up with some of my favourite people, Amy and Emily, for a day of relaxing, food and a catch up. We went for lunch at a cute little pub and then went over to the Abbey. I love visiting ruins/castles anything historical really, its one of my favourite things to do and I've been to this particular ruin a couple of times; there's not much to do but its so peaceful and beautiful!

Amy who takes a lot of photos decided its time we document our going outs, having managed to escape it for 3 years and kindly offered to take my outfit photos. So getting over my fear of the camera in a public place and other people being around these are our results. There were a lot of laughing and terrible photos!

Disney Inspired #3

Links on my Polyvore
This post as you can see is obviously inspired by Brave, this is one of my favourite Disney films to watch there is no helpless female needing rescuing here! I kept the outfit quite basic which can be easily worn day or night. I kept with the blue and gold theme, to keep it with Brave but alot more wearable then a cape and a bow and arrow on your back!

HOW I STYLE - The Slip Dress

Slip Dress - Asos
1. Crop Top - Topshop, Slip ons - Asos
2. Fedora - Asos, Shirt - Topshop, Docs - online store?
3. Jacket - Primark, Shoes - Old
I've had this slip dress for ages now but its never seemed to get photographed and the one time I did my SD Card ruined them! Anyway when I first brought mine I couldn't find any posts to help me decide what to wear with it, so I thought I'd do one for you who are unsure how to pair yours.

They are so versatile for all year round and are definitely a wardrobe staple, but as its summer I did it from a warmer weather perspective but that's not to say you cant add a pair of thick tights and a cute coat to make it weather appropriate.

Outfit 1 - is a casual outfit, for maybe running errands or a day of shopping, it shows how versatile the slip dress is pairing it under a top or even a jumper for cooler weather.
Outfit 2 - is a smart/casual outfit which could be worn at work or maybe to an interview, this is my favourite one of the two, I love the look of the slip dress over the top of a shirts its effortlessly smart.

Outfit 3 - is an evening outfit just pairing a statement jacket over the top for the chiller nights and a pair of heels really dresses up this outfit. Confession time those heels are the only ones I own otherwise they would have been more summer appropriate.

Hope this helps some of you!

OOTN - Black Tie

Dress - Missguided
Shoes - Primark
Headband - Primark
Chain - H&M (old)

First I want to apologise for the quality of the photo, I got ready early to take photos but then my dad turned up early so I only had time for a rushed iPhone photo on my way out.

I wore this Friday night to a 40th 50th and 60th black tie themed birthday party, weeks I was antagonising over what to wear I don't do dresses often and certainly not formal ones. I then came across this Scuba midi dress on Missguided for only £19.99 and deemed it perfect, it also has a slit at the back which obviously makes it formal right?!

I kept everything simple with a gold chain and headband and put my hair in an almost beehive, it just wouldn't cooperate goddamnit, it and geek shoe flats because I cannot walk in heels!

OOTD - Casual Fed

So everything here you've probably seen before, but not together so this is a new outfit there is no one time wearing here! I just wore this for a shop in town looking for clothing for my holiday, there should be a haul soon so look out for that, the weather has been so odd recently that I'm half dressing for summer and rain.

By the way I'm hoping to do a little holiday series soon, so with ,hopefully, some proper planning it'll all get done and go up on time.
Would you guys prefer some after or before I got on holiday?

Body Confidence

Image found on Google

I've seen quite a few posts and videos recently about being confident and after readings Megan from Wonderful You post and being in awe of the confidence and courage she showed putting up tasteful naked photos up on her up on her blog, I was inspired to write a post of my own. No naked photos here sorry folks.

I think a common assumption around blogging is that these people who post photos of themselves must be vain and overconfident, but actually that's not always the case; a few posts I've seen are proof enough.

I think I briefly touched on my confidence in a pretty personal post that I did a little while back, but I feel especially at this moment in my life that I could benefit from writing this post and its important to get these types of posts out there in the world.

I've never been the most confident person, I've always been shy and then over the years I've seemed to get a little worse in social situations. Leaving school and being at college and making some really wonderful friends, I've become a lot more confident in different aspects of my life. I care less of what other people are thinking of me, I'm not here to please people who I don't like or those who don't like me. But that's doesn't mean I still don't choose clothes that would completely make me stand out at college, for some reason I'm a lot more confident around older people and not those my age. Probably because I know how horrible teenagers can be.

But especially at the moment in my life my body confidence is not at its highest, I feel like I don't look how I want and that are parts of my body that I'd really like to change. I've seemed to have taken to wearing looser clothing and higher necklines as this is what I just feel a lot more confident in, I know one reason are because of my chest area which is not as small as I would like and drew some unwanted attention when I was at school; which probably plays a big part in not wanting to draw particular attention to myself.

But then some of my other hangs up I know I can work on myself, I don't want to loose weight as such but I'd like to tone up. But for someone who detests exercise I'm working my way to that. My skin I can help improve by changing parts of my diet. But those are things I want to work on for me and not other people!

When I was looking for a photo to accompany this post in Google Images, I came across the one that I've used and I know these are things that I can and others can do to help them love themselves; because really as long as your happy with how you look who cares what everyone else thinks?!

Ps. If you read this all, well done!

OOTD - A 60's miss match

Top - Forever21 (old)
Jeans - Topshop
Sandals - Ebay

To me this outfit just doesn't seem to gel well together but it might be one of my favourites to date even though it isn't anything special. It's a combination of all my favourite things, a pun and a little 'That's so Raven' to it, my new favourite shoes and a beehive. You don't know how long I've been trying to do a beehive but with my hair being so fine, I thought I was never going to achieve it but lo and behold it happened and I had to document it, right?! I brought this top a year or two ago after seeing it on Hey Claire one of my favourite YouTubers and I couldn't not get it as soon as I saw it, love at first sight!

But that doesn't get rid of the fact that I probably should have worn vans or converse with this outfit and less of an elegant hair style, but I was just so excited to wear my shoes and that I achieved one of my hair ambitions that I just couldn't get rid of any of it. Its a wonderful miss match.

Only The Young

If you attended the Summertime Ball this year, you lucky things, you probably know about Vodafone who got the public to vote for an unsigned band that they would like to see perform at Wembley Stadium, those lucky winners were Only The Young.

Now to be completely honest with you I hadn't heard of them until recently, when someone got in contact with me about sharing this video and them with you. After a bit of research, read stalking on Youtube and Twitter I found I really liked these guys and would love to share them with you.

You probably know by now, if you know me in real life or on twitter, I love music (who doesn't) and I'm always on the lookout for new people to listen too and acousitc unsigned artists are definitely my favourite. I've followed people from when they started out on YouTube and are finally being heard at festivals and on the radio, Hello Nina?! It's great following their journey.

I wouldn't share them with you if I didn't genuinely think they are worth sharing, that's not what I'm about nor what I want my blog to become about! These guys have great charisma and banter (yeah I said it) together and I think there's something fun about these guys and their style is bang on!
