The #BigBlogmasproject2014

Like last year I'm attempting the Big Blogmas Project, which is blogging every day in December,  started and organised by Cole checkout her and her blog here. However Last year didn't exactly go to plan I think I did a week?! woops! But this year I have high hopes and I'm more confident with my blog now since being able to (mostly) stick to my schedule!

If you'd like to keep up to date with any of the posts, to check out the others taking part or for Christmas inspiration check out the hashtag.

Wish me luck and hope you enjoy the next month!

I know it's not often I do a post like this, but I think its important to write posts about something  you feel strongly about! I've had this post sat in my drafts for weeks now, deliberating whether I should publish or not, which is silly isn't it? Being too scared to openly express your thoughts on YOUR space on the internet. So here we go it happened, I published it.

Yes I would class myself as a feminist, I said it that dreaded word GASP. I,Courtney Reid, am a feminist. Feminists definitely get a bad name, it's not about man hating, in fact I'd go as far to say if you're a man hater then you are not a feminist at all!  Yes feminism focuses on women's rights but that's because currently women are still a step behind men with rights, but that's not all its about. Feminism means equality for BOTH men and women!

Women should be able to have the chance to do any job they want too, having the same pay men have, certain jobs not being unavailable or not get the job because they might have a baby. There should be no difference between rights because of the gender they are born. Men and women of any age shouldn't feel as if they are unable to part in certain activities or interests because it's "too girly" or "too manly" or because it isn't want society deems correct for your gender. Women should be able to walk down the street without having things shouted at them by men or women, but that branches to a whole other subject.  Men or women should not be made to feel unworthy because of the gender they are born.

Feminism is about anyone of any gender, religion, background or skin colour to be treated equally. It's not about degrading other people for the way they were born or they way they dress. Feminism is about women NOT abusing other women for their life choices. Feminism isn't about women discriminating men or men discriminating women. Feminism is about everyone joining together to make a wrong right!

Me Time

Seen this tag floating around on YouTube, so I thought i'd give it a go. I love doing new tags so yeah here we go!

- What do you watch or read during me-time?
I catch up on my YouTube when I have internet or watching my favourite films such as: Red, The proposal, Taken, Tangled to name a few of those. I'll also read a book that I'm currently reading or catch up on my blogs.
- What do you wear during me-time?
If I know I don't have to go out you'll find me in my Pyjamas with a blanket wrapped round me. Although I did see these fleece lined joggers in Primark the other day and I might try and find them.
- What are your me-time beauty products?
Urmm I don't really have one? I'm not massively fussed on stuff like that, although recently I've been really loving a bubble bath. So maybe that?
- Current favourite nail polish?
I'm terrible at doing my nails so I just don't. You'll see no pretty nail varnish on my Instagram from me. Practically worth prison in the blogging community no?!
- What do you eat/drink during me-time?
Drink will mostly likely be Dr Pepper or some other fizzy sugary delight and probably eating Salt and Vinegar Golden Wonder crisps are just magical and I find myself eating them in twos. If I can get my hands on them, there seems to be a major shortage at the moment.
- Current favourite candle?
Again I don't personally own candles, apparently I'll burn the house down cheers mum!
- Do you ever have outdoor me-time?
My friend will tell you I don't go outside. Oh god that sounds sad. But I hate the cold and its blah and where I live and there is nothing to do. Although I do like walking in the woods or around somewhere that is nice to look at.
- Would you ever go see a movie alone?
Nope, although it makes sense. Why do we go to the cinema with friends you're not supposed to be talking?!
- Favourite online shop?
Asos always!
- Anything to add? What else do you do during me-time?
Nothing I'm pretty boring!
I tag anyone anywhere that wants to do this tag, let me know if you do. I particularly tag Emma, Charlie and Chloe though!

OOTD - Aztec A-line

Top - Forever21 / Skirt - Topshop / Slip ons - Asos
This is currently my go to outfit when I want to wear a slightly dressy outfit that is super comfortable. On this occasion I wore it walking around the V&A museum with college, to visit the Horst exhibition. I recommend a visit to the museum or the exhibition if it's still running!

I wanted the skirt to be the main focus of the outfit, as I love the aztec print, so I simply paired with a v-neck tee. I was never a V-neck lover but actually its a lot more flattering then your average tee and I'll definitely be stocking up in every colour. Forever21's are cheap and actually pretty good quality!

#Cosmopolitan Chic - day to night

When I was contacted to take part in #cosmopolitanchic I couldn't say no, coming up with outfits I wish I owned for places and events I wish I could go to is one of my favourite things to do. In this case I was pretending I was staying at the most amazing looking resort Cosmopolitan Las Vegas   A girl can dream! I decided to do a day to night look featuring this gorgeous pleather midi skirt.

I thought this was the perfect outfit for a day of shopping and a bit of brunch, what girl doesn't love shopping? its comfortable chic and a definite me outfit. I wanted to keep the skirt the main focus of both of my outfits, so the looks are quite minimal. I paired the skirt with a denim shirt which could be tucked in or tied at the waist to show a little skin and break up the outfit. I chose these monk shoes and gorgeous backpack to keep the outfit casual and well I am LOVING both of these trends at the moment. I thought a nude lip along side natural make up and a messy bun would bring the outfit together.

For a fancy meal then a night out hitting the clubs or seeing  a show, this outfit would be perfect.; Its super versatile for whatever your evening plans are. I  once again paired this gorgeous pleather skirt, which I may have to buy myself, with this cute lace bralet. These are everywhere at the moment, but I think they're perfect for any outfit: under shirts or in this case on their own. I then layered these various dainty necklaces over the top. I think these shoes are perfect, they're dainty like the bralet and I just love the little gold toe and heel detail, it adds a bit of something to what would be plain shoes. I thought this gold detailed clutch and dark red lip would bring everything together.

Packing for short stay tips

As I only went to Edinburgh for only 2 nights, there was only a need for hand luggage. The luggage weight was 10kg, which I think is quite a bit seeing as I went on a holiday this year and the allowance was 15kg. There is also a size requirement but no one checked the sizing until we were coming home from Edinburgh. No one checked the weight of our bags though, maybe because we self checked in? Anyway I thought I would do a little post on packing!

Boots - Topshop / Flats - Primark / Necklace -Primark (old) / Jeans - Topshop / Blue Jumper - Asda / Jumper - H&M / Pyjamas - Asda / Check dress - Primark / floral dress - Vintage style me / Shirt - Topshop (old) / Bag - nans
I thought I was going to really struggle packing with such limited space as I'm one of those what if packers. What if rains? What if there's a freak warm spell? What if I go out? But actually It wasn't to hard at all.

I tried to keep it as minimal and light weight as possible. I knew the weather was going to be cold, so jumpers and layering was essential. I rolled up the dresses and shirts to limit the space that it takes up. I felt boots were an acceptable space stealer as there was a possibility it was going to rain, I tucked my socks and charger in there to keep it slightly compact. I packed one pair of jeans and wore one pair travelling so I could switch it up if I needed too.

Miniature time, everything has to be under 100ml and aerosols are allowed in hand luggage as long as its in that requirement.

Remember to save a little room for any gifts or goodies you buy. Look out for this top to come in future ootd posts!

Camera case - Primark / Tangle Teezer - plane / Bag - Asos / Scarf - Primark / Coat - Missguided
The plus to hand luggage is you're allowed a hand luggage bag then your handbag. Of course my Asos rucksack was my go to choice as its so roomy and I rucksack is my go to choice if I'm strolling around all day or any time at the moment. So you can add any extras that don't fit in your hand luggage into your handbag! Genius no? I also only took one coat to save on space, that was actually pretty risky for me, what if it had rained?!

Hope this little post has helped any of you guys!

OOTD - A Scottish Autumn

Shirt - Topshop (old) / Jumper - H&M/ Necklace - Primark (old) / jacket - Missguided / Jeans - Dorothy Perkins / Slips on - Primark
You may have read my previous post  and noticed a photo similar to this in one of the sections. This is what I wore on Wednesday when gallivanting around the Castle, it was such a lovely day and pretty chilly.

This outfit was perfect I wasn't too hot or cold and perfect for exploring the Castle and Loch Leven. I just simply paired a shirt, jumper and jeans, my favourite autumn look, with my new Missguided coat which is super warm and comfy and I wish I could wear it forever!

My little Edinburgh Adventure

I just want to get it out there now this is going to be a pretty texty and a photo filled post and a mix of camera and iPhone photos.

If you follow my Twitter or my Instagram you may have seen that I went away to Edinburgh for 2 nights with my nan and of course I wanted to share my little trip with you guys! I've been deliberating how to set out the blog posts for this and I think this is probably the best way to do it, so hopefully you'll enjoy my next few posts!

Tuesday morning we got the plane from Southampton to Edinburgh, but it ended being delayed. Our flight was originally 11 something and we took off at 2:10pm. That was not fun! Seeing as we only had hand luggage everything was free sailing from checking in, which we did on a self scanner thingy. There will be a post to come about packing with just hand luggage.

By the time we got our hired car and got to the hotel it was dark. It sucked that our flight was delayed because we missed out on half a day of what could have been exploring Edinburgh!

Hotel I thought I would do a little section on the hotel, we stayed in the Holiday Inn West. It was lot nicer then I expected and was perfect for a couple of nights away. We had all the facilities we need and it was pretty spacious and clean. The staff were super friendly and I'd definitely stay again!

Our View

Wednesday was our fall day and what a day it was. It was a beautiful autumn day, chilling but sunny and blue skies, perfect for walking around Edinburgh castle!

I left my nan in the cafe at the castle as she has a bad leg and couldn't walk all the way round and we didn't realise how high up it was. So I just dawdled around on my own and enjoyed everything at my own pace. I saw the Scottish Jewels, If you go to see these, go early like I did because the queue was ridiculous by lunch time! I watched a cute old man be in character and talking about when Cromwell took over the castle at one point. All in all it was a wonderful walk around the castle.

As it was around 2pm and I really wanted to visit a loch while I was there, we hoped in the car and drove to Lake Leven which was about 45 minutes away in Fife. I just want to mention here that on the drive up (after getting lost in the city due to my nan ignoring the sat nav) the architecture and the houses in Edinburgh are amazing, truely picturesque, buildings are not made like that these days. Actually good intricate buildings are dying out!

If I'm remembering  correctly, Loch Leven has an island in the middle in which the Mary The Queen of Scots was held prisoner in the building on there. It was really beautiful and would have been a lovely walk, unfortunately we couldn't do a lot of it. I'll make a confession I really want to go to the Loch Ness, in hopes of a sight of dear old Nessie but that was a 4 hour journey away and just wasn't possible!

After adventuring back to the Hotel we decided to go out for a meal after only using the hotel restaurant the night before. Funny story one of my close friends dad was actually staying at the same hotel when a business trip and was sat only a few tables away!

We went out for food at Carter and Miller steakhouse which is on its way into Edinburgh city. It's actually a pretty odd location, you would expect a mcdonalds or a service station to be there instead of a posh restaurant.

The restaurant was so nice, the d├ęcor was on point and everyone was super lovely and the food was amazing! I'd definitely recommend if you're staying in Edinburgh and you love a good steak like me!

Thursday sadly was just travelling home. Edinburgh really is beautiful and I'm definitely going to go back and explore more as soon as I can. When I was there it was one of the places that I instantly love (like Cornwall) and could see myself living there, I only wish I could have stayed for longer and explored more of the city. Where is your favourite place to visit?

Hopefully I didn't ramble on too much and you found some useful stuff in there!
