Outfits of 2015

The last few years I've done a yearly round up of my outfits and as you can see this year is no different. I love being able to see how my style is evolving or what trend I've really loved this year, but also seeing how my photography is improving!

I'd love to know what you're favourite outfit is?

"Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy."
Desiderata - Max Ehrmann
So this is a pretty unusual post for me, I've expressed my love of books but I've never really go on about poetry and that's because honestly its not something I'm all that interested in. Saying that doesn't mean I can't appreciate one when I come across it, I remember having a children's poetry book and being obsessed with it.

Me and my uncle have a thing where when we see each other we swap names of musicians we're loving at that moment or someone we've recently discovered on YouTube. This poem was one of the ones he told me about, you can listen to it here
I love it! I'm a big quote saver, my phone is filled with them, this is a poem you can almost live by, it's full of lessons and aspirations it's about positivity and living!

I just enjoyed it so much I wanted to share it with you guys on my blog, I'd love to know your thoughts?!

The problems fussy eaters have to face:

Hello I'm Courtney Reid and I'm a fussy eater. Anyway I thought it would be fun to create a little post about the things I have to suffer through. You really can find inspiration everywhere.

1. The YOU DON'T LIKE (insert said food here) outrage "You don't like PIZZA?! How can you not like pizza?!" "WHO DOESN'T LIKE PIZZA?"

2. The 'well if you haven't tried it, how do you know you don't like it?' lecture For me, personally, I don't think people understand how hard I find it to try things. It's not as simple as you think.

3. Having to be on guard at all times from the imposters Parents like to try and replace foods you like with foods you don't like and hope you don't notice. I know what bread I like, GODDAMNIT! I'm 20 and they still try to do this to me.

4. Trying food to please others and having to spit it out

5. Trying food finding out you like it and having to suffer the I TOLD YOU SO speech Let's be honest there is nothing more annoying then a smug face.

6. Trying to not look ungrateful when eating round a friends house Eating out is just hard work.

7. Having to be the only one in a conversation saying you don't like Chinese/Itailian/etc and having to change restaurant choice. Just give me a menu with steak and chips, it's not hard. But really it's horrible being that awkward one.

8. The gag reflex comes into play! Let's just not go there...

Damn the last one, I couldn't find an appropriate Harry Potter gif for it!

Hope you enjoyed!

OOTD - Casual boho

Top - Asda // Jeans - Topshop // Shoes - UGG
Here's a small outfit, I honestly just wanted to feature this gorgeous top! It's got this amazing boho flowing vibes with the bellowing sleeves, the drop waist and the lace up detail and that's not including the fab print and colour pallet. Asda never fail to surprise me with the gems you can find in there!

I kept it simple pairing with my trusty jeans and my moccasins, to stick to the boho vibes this top gives off but keeping it casual as well. You could easily pair this with a gorgeous furry coats which are so on trend at the moment, to make it perfect for our autumn/winter weather!

ELF wishlist

Elf wishlist

I'm incredibly boring when it comes to make up, I can do very little and without much skill and to be honest I'm usually to lazy to do anything more then concealer and mascara. I'm just not cut out for this 'girl' stuff ya know.

I never got round to ordering from ELF before they closed, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. So now they're back, I'm definitely going to be ordering from them when I have a spare bit of money.

Current Favourites

Here are a few things I've been particularly loving over the last month or so. I tried to show you a variety of the things I have particularly been enjoying. I don't really buy new things often so this is definitely more of a lifestyle favourites over a fashion and beauty one.

This tiny backpack from Asos, has got to be a firm favourite since I got it back in the early summer. I'm one of those that can never fill up a whole bag and tend to go for the smaller ones, so what's great about this one is that it's the perfect size for my camera and I can still fit the essentials in! Also backpacks are bang on trend at the moment so that doesn't hurt!

I had to feature these in my favourites because I am obsessed! After I've done a weekend of cramming them all in, I'm always left wandering why I never watched them before now? They're fab. Nothing beats Harry Potter but these are a second for sure. I've also just started watching Agents of Shield and to quote the youths of today, Yaaaas with the obvious a-okay emoji alongside!

I've been particularly loving Joss Stones new Album this month, it's got such chill vibes that just makes me want to be swaying in a woods somewhere. Imagine that!

I've also been loving Freedom Fry recently, I found them off a YouTuber actually, this was the first song I heard and definitely my favourite but all the others are worth a listen too.

Blogger & YouTuber

My friend Charlie actually introduced me to Pie and Fash and I've got to say I was hooked straight away. Daisy is so open and nothing is off limits in her posts, it's so refreshing to read.

Meghan is someone I've discovered in the last few months and she is rad. She's got such a positive attitude towards life and she just has the most genuine and chilled vibes and I definitely think we'd get on and her music taste is just so on point; She has introduced me to many an artist.

I'd love to know anything you are loving right now, leave a comment!

"Let your freak flag fly"

A few months ago I went to watch Shrek the Musical, which off topic was so amazing, donkey was hilarious. One of the songs was the title of this post, which was basically about how they used to feel ashamed of who they were and how they were now proud to be who they are; you can find the song here. It's funny where you find inspiration for your blog, it truly can be anywhere. I loved the song  and it's meaning straight away, it really stuck out to me!

When I was at school, I remember hiding parts of my self just small things, like my love of reading, anything really that would make me stand out from my class mates. On non-uniform days I'd find the most 'normal' outfit I could find to avoid any unnecessary comments. Just silly things that were important to me at the time.

I suppose because I know how cruel people could be, I'd seen it how classmates would torment people because they looked, dressed or were different from what was perceived as cool. Kids/people/women/men can be cruel, we as a society don't like what we don't understand and we hit out.

But why should we hide those things?! Who cares what people think?! The things that we like, how we express ourselves are what make us US and there is definitely nothing wrong with a bit of wacky. Go out and Celebrate the things that make you individual, if everyone was the same we'd truly live in a boring world. "The things that make us special are what make us strong" Really what would we talk about?!

So let your freak flag wave, let your freak flag fly!

3 ways to style denim!

So here is a Look Book of sorts, styling up  variations of denim that I have in my wardrobe. Denim are one of those that are easy to wear but you often over think how you're going to wear something. For me, it's black jeans, for the life of me I can't decide how to wear them.

The denim skirt -

Top - Mcbusted Tour // Denim Skirt - Asos // Converse - Shuch
Evidently this outfit makes me pull odd faces and not one serious one; I kept this outfit real simple and with a casual sporty vibe. I paired the skirt with my Mcbusted tour t-shirt, that I've been dying to feature on the blog since I got it. What's better then a band tee that you can be disguised as a graphic tee?! Because the tee was a baseball style, I felt converse were the obvious choice of footwear.

The mom jean -

Tee - New Look // Belt - Asos // Mom Jeans - Topshop // Air Max Thea - Schuh
I won't lie, I love this tshirt I've worn it at least twice a week since getting it. I live the print and tassels, it just adds a whole new dimension to it and when I decided to do this post, I knew straight away that I was going to pair it with my mom jeans. Like everything I kept it casual with my Theas.

The Dungarees

Jacket - Primark (old) // Crop top - Boohoo // Dungarees - Zara (kids) // Shoes - Ugg

You're going to be bored of seeing these dungarees I can already tell, but they have changed the Jean game for me; I'd wear them everyday if I could get away with it. As it's now into autumn, I obviously wanted to start dressing warmer so I chose to pair my dungarees with this long sleeved mock neck top. I paired it with this glorious tapestry Primark bargain to add a bit of detail and "summin" to my outfit.

So here are my 3 denim style ups, that I hope give you inspiration and ideas! I'd love to know how you'd style up any of these pieces or leave your thoughts below.

Photos taken by Emma Squibb, you can find her here and here, if you live along the south coast, Portsmouth area and looking for a photographer for your blog, then Emma could be the girl for you!

* I was approached by SpecsPost asking to feature them on my blog, However all opinions are my own*
I'm obviously a person who need glasses to see, I have since I was about 10 and I have spent many an hour deciding what glasses I want to go for. I've only ever got my glasses from my opticians and I'm in love with my current ones but that doesn't mean I don't want to switch up now and then. So I've always kept my eye out for online stores for ideas and in hope of reasonable pricing. We don't all have mega dolla.
So when I heard about Specs Post who actually provide a service where you can pick out 3 frames to try if you're undecided. This is such a genius idea, you get to try out the styles to see if they will suit you; this gets rid of disappointment and extra expenses.

The Alexa Chung style
Twiggy Vogue inspired

The Holly Golightly cat eye
I chose these 3 style, which are all slightly different style and definitely the 3 I were most drawn too. Although I loved all 3 on sight when I put them on I knew exactly what pair I would be choosing. I felt the cat eye, were far to big for my face and that the Twiggy inspired were just a bit too small.

I chose the Alexa chung style, I simply sent all 3 back saying what frame I want, If and what my prescription is and within a week my chosen frame was back. Easy Peasy!

Snapshot of Ireland

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, you'd have probably noticed that last week I was in Ireland visiting my aunties; So I thought I'd show you a little snapshot of my week. It was pretty rainy so I didn't get my camera out a lot, so I've got both phone and camera photos.

Our aunties are currently based in Holycross, County Tipperary. I did indeed sing the song, so feel free. I couldn't not show you these to photos of the house, I'm just so in love with them and that Narnia lamp.

One of the days we visited the Rock of Cashel, apparently you cant not go when you're in Tipperary or so my aunties said. Which was quite hauntingly beautiful and had some amazing panoramic views.

One of our two woodland walks had a fairy trail, which if you know me I am all about! However it was pouring on this day, so I only had my phone and it was limited spaces of time to take photos.

Although it rained at least part of the day on most days, I had such a good time. Ireland is a truly beautiful country and I hope to visit more of it in the future.
